Legal Support That Feels Human

Who We Are

About Sabai Counsel

Sabai Counsel was founded with a straightforward observation: people dealing with family legal matters rarely struggle because of a lack of information — they struggle because the information they receive is difficult to act on. Legal processes in Thailand are thorough, but the language around them often isn't designed for people who are already under emotional strain.

We set up our practice on Wireless Road in central Bangkok to serve individuals, couples, and families who need clear, considered legal guidance — in English, at a measured pace, with room to ask questions. The name Sabai reflects what we try to bring to each interaction: a sense of ease and genuine care, even when the subject matter is difficult.

Our work covers three main areas: orientation sessions for people who are unsure where to begin, agreement drafting and review for families seeking an amicable outcome, and full case support for matters that require formal proceedings. Each service is priced transparently and described without unnecessary complexity.

Our Mission

What Guides Our Work

Family law touches some of the most personal aspects of people's lives. We take that seriously. Our mission is to make the legal dimension of those situations as manageable as possible — not by minimising the complexity, but by making sure our clients understand it clearly and feel supported as they navigate it.

Clarity over complexity

Every explanation is in plain language. We do not hide behind jargon.

Honesty at every stage

We tell clients what is realistic, not what they might want to hear.

Continuity of care

You deal with the same counsellor throughout, so context is never lost.

Discretion as standard

Confidentiality is not a feature — it is simply how we operate.

How We Work

Professional Standards

Every matter we take on is handled according to a set of professional commitments that do not change depending on the complexity or scale of the case.

Thai Bar Compliance

All legal work is carried out in accordance with the regulations and professional standards of the Lawyers Council of Thailand.

Client Confidentiality

Information shared with us remains confidential. We do not discuss client matters with third parties without explicit written consent.

Written Summaries

After every significant meeting or consultation, we provide a written summary so the client has a clear record of what was discussed and what comes next.

Transparent Fee Structure

Service fees are published and explained in full before work begins. Additional costs such as court fees are itemised separately and discussed in advance.

Secure Data Handling

Client documents and communications are stored securely and handled in accordance with applicable Thai data protection law and our published privacy policy.

Regular Case Updates

Clients are kept informed of progress at agreed intervals. We do not go quiet — if something changes, you hear about it promptly.

Our Expertise

Family Law in Thailand — A Considered Approach

Family law in Thailand is governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, which addresses marriage, divorce, child custody, maintenance, and property arrangements between spouses. While the framework is well-established, navigating it — particularly for individuals who are not familiar with Thai legal processes, or who are managing cross-border family situations — requires careful preparation and clear thinking at each stage.

At Sabai Counsel, we focus specifically on family matters because we believe focused practice produces better outcomes than broad generalist work. Over the years, our team has developed a detailed working knowledge of how family cases progress through the Thai system — which documents are required, what courts expect, how timelines typically unfold, and where communication tends to break down between parties.

We work primarily in English, which makes our services particularly relevant to expatriate families in Bangkok, international couples, and Thai nationals who prefer to receive legal advice in English. All formal documents that need to be submitted in Thai are handled as part of our service, with translations explained to the client before anything is finalised.

Our approach to each matter is methodical and unhurried. We believe that a client who fully understands their situation is in a better position to make sound decisions — and that a counsellor who has taken time to understand the full picture is better placed to provide genuinely useful advice. That is the standard we aim for in every matter we take on.
